Rating Olight Long Range Torches: Which One Illuminates the Furthest?

Olight has been around in the flashlight industry since 2006. Through the years the brand has been changing and shaping the norm for different types of flashlights especially tactical torches. With their M series Olight made a push in light output, durability and lots of flashlight features which positioned them as a reputable brand later on. Their innovative approach continued with their SR series of searchlights. Today Olight offers flashlights powered by different types of batteries and packed with all kinds of features but one thing that stands out with some of them is their beam distance.

SR52UT Intimidator

The intimidator is a 1,100 lm (lumen) capable flashlight powered by 3, 3,400 mAh 18650 batteries. This long range torch has a beam distance of 800 m, three different brightness levels and a strobe mode. The level with the lowest lm count (80) has a runtime of 40 hours while the one above it provides 550 lm for 7.5 hours. The maximum lm count (1,100) available on the third and highest level lasts up to 4 hours.

The body of the this long distance torch is made of type-III hard-anodized aluminium and it measures 16.1 cm long with a bezel diameter of 6.3 cm. The unit weighs 405 g (without the batteries) and it comes with a flat tail cap which allows you to place the torch upside down. Intimidator's reverse polarity feature prevents improper battery installation in all three parallel battery compartments.

Warrior X Pro

This 2,250 lm flashlight has a 5,000 mAh 21700 lithium battery which allows it to throw a beam across 600 m. The IPX 8 rating of the warrior x pro is 15 cm long, it has a diameter of 3.9 cm and weighs 239 g. Unlike the intimidator, the warrior x pro has only two brightness levels with no strobe mode. The level with the 300 lm allows you to use it for 8 hours while the one with the 2,250 lm, the torch's maximum, starts and ends differently. You first start with the 2,250 lm and then as time passes the flashlight automatically switches to 1,000 lm and then 300 lm which lasts a total of about 2 hours.

X9R Marauder

The marauder has a pretty big battery pack (6,000 mAh) which powers the 25,000 lm of this long range flashlight. Talking about the range, the marauder can shine a light up to 630 meters with a light intensity of 99,200 cd (candela). This flashlight has 8 different brightness levels plus a strobe mode. Starting from the 8th level you get only 200 lm with 60 m of beam distance for 27 hours. Level 7 provides you with 400 lm at a maximum beam distance of 85 m for 19 hours. Level 6 has double the lm count than level 7 a beam distance of 115 m and a runtime of 12 hours. Level 5 offers 1,600 lm for 8 hours with a maximum beam distance of 160 m.

Level 4 has 4 hours of runtime with a light output of 3,200 lm and a beam distance of 215 m. Level 3 provides a 100 m longer beam distance than level 4 and 6,400 lm for 2 hours. Level 2 comes with a total runtime of 1 h 30 min with the first 10 min having a 12,800 lm light output and then it goes down to 6,400 lm. The beam distance of this level is 450 m. Level 1 has the device's maximum beam distance (630 m) and lm count (25,000). The latter lasts only for 3 min though and it turns down to 6,400 lm for the rest of the 1 h 40 m of the level's total runtime.

M3XS-UT Javelot

Although the maximum light output of the javelot is only 1,200 lm its beam distance reaches 1,000 m. This long range torch also has an IPX 8 rating which allows it to stay operational submerged 2 meters deep in water. The device is 255 g heavy (without batteries) 21.1 cm long and it has a bezel diameter of 6.3 cm.

The javelot's 250,000 cd light intensity can be powered either with 3 x CR123A batteries or 2x 18650 batteries. The body of the javelot has a type-III hard-anodized finish which gives it a 1m impact resistance. These features make the javelot an excellent device for search and rescue, emergency preparedness, law enforcement and more.

Javelot Pro

The Javelot pro is the Olight long range flashlight with the longest throw surpassing its heavier counterpart (M3XS-UT Javelot) by 80 meters. The javelot pro also has a higher light intensity at 291,600 cd but he same light output, 2,100 lm. This torch has two 3,500 mAh 18650 batteries that can provide power at four different brightness levels. Level 4 starts at 15 lm and can run for 8 days whilst level 3 runs for 23 hours with 150 lm. Level 2 provides you with 600 lm for 5 hours and level 1 starts at 2,100 lm. Then it continues with 1,000 lm for 1 h 45 min of the total 1 h 50 min that it can operate for.
